    My third 50 - WEEEEEE!!!
After 225 hours my kin/rad defender Chester Neutron dinged in the second mish of the Imperious TF.
After I tried an empath aeons before I decided never to play a defender again; being an empath wasn´t the right thing for me because I stressed myself to look after the people and what if they die...
So I started Chess as a test toon at the same time as my fire/kin controller because I didn´t know if I rather want to play a kin controller, or a kin defender... I kept both and it was a wise decision. I love this crazy Pixie to bits.
I can solo him on invincible and he´s always in the middle of a fight and so much fun to play - and speaking of heals he´s doing a great job on that too.
Thank you so much Chester for the fun, more work´s waiting now!

In the heat of battle I missed the ding pic, but I got one of his new roman costume in crazy Chester-ish colors.

    ARRRggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
Was the sound I made has took a sledge hammer to my computer because it lagged me out whilst I was on a fabolous team.

Going to restart the damm computer and see if they are still there.

On a positively geeky note one of my team members has a power called "Neutron Bomb" and the awesome thing is, wait for is, you'll love this, I did, I thought it was fabolous. The neutron bomb sounds like like the photon torpedo sound effect from Star Trek! Squeeeeeee, How awesome is that.

**Slinks off to his geek corner to find out the episode that sound effect starred in!** **Thinks it might be Romulan**

At Hicksville, waiting for train so I can go home, pay rent, sleep for a couple of hours, get in cab, go to one of our other stores, borrow shit we should have but no one told me we were running out, get on train, get back to my store and somehow not kill anyone while they spend their time FUCKING with my universe!

Just about every retail employee and lab member in my store has managed to make my list this week. And I have gone from actually being fairly calm and not too tense to the point of if I don't get away to Pennsic really fuckin' soon I'm going to say or do something I will regret (and someone else will definitely rue).

Jackassery has abounded, and I'm really tired of playing fireman. I'm definitely a small person wearing a red spandex suit!

    strange Lilo problem
Hi all. I don't remember when this started; however, whenever I go to reboot, I
find that the default kernel never boots, even after the timeout value has been
exceded. Instead, I have to actually select which kernel I want to boot out of
the list. Anyone have any idea why Lilo would seemingly refuse to boot the
default kernel, yet I can boot it if I hit 1 for example? I am currently using
Lilo-22.8 that I compiled about a year ago. Thanks!

    Holy crap.
I just got the decision letter for the claim I filed with the VA last August for issues related to the car accident I was in back when I was in the Air Force. (For those who don't know, I was nearly killed in a car wreck while stationed at NORAD. I really do need to make a post about this someday.)

They've rated me 30% service-connected disabled for cervical spine problems leading to arthritis in my neck, and for headaches related to concussion.

    O_O

What this means is, the VA will be sending me a compensation check of around $350/month (adjustable for cost-of-living increases) for the rest of forever. FOREVER. And the 30% rating might bump me up into a higher priority group in the VA Healthcare System, which would mean a lower co-pay to see a VA doctor. [ETA: IT DOES. It bumps me into Priority Group 2, which means FREE HEALTH CARE FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. OMG.] That's also good for the rest of forever, and both are portable to wherever I live.

    O_O

*looks over list of books that need to be replaced*

    *also looks over travel wishlist*

I almost want to go back out and grab some boozahol to celebrate. Heh, maybe I'll do that.

Did anyone catch the FDA number on that pill?
    Oof.

Two, count 'em, TWO medications whose side affects (which should mellow with time) are nausea, loss of appetite, sleepiness, yawning and tiredness (yes, these are all different).

    *stumbles around*

I think I may give in around 8:30 and go to bed.

On the bright side I might lose weight in the most unhealthy way imaginable! *\o/*

Up side, can sleep 12 hours without sleeping the day away.

Down side, won't be able to read my flist till I watch SGA (and/or Psych).

Could we just cut everything? Could we? *tired* (Yes the preview information counts as spoilers.)

Carolingian Archery/TW Champs moved to SUNDAY

Due to the extremely high temperatures and heat index forecast for Saturday, we are going to hold this event on SUNDAY, July 20th.

The charge for this event is only $5 for members (children 10 and under are free), and it's a relaxed event with lots of great shooting and throwing and socializing. We hope we will see you there!

Set-up for archery and thrown weapons will begin at 8:00am, and the site will open at 9am and close at 6pm. Assistance in setting up and breaking down the ranges is always welcome, and gentles arriving before 9am or remaining after 6pm are assumed to have volunteered. In addition, all marshals willing to assist in executing the tourneys should contact the autocrat, Eva, or Christoff.

No food will be provided at the event. Please ensure you have provisions with you, or make plans to obtain food from a Bedford-area merchant. On the way to the site from the highway, you will pass Denny's, McDonald's, Friendly's, Stop & Shop, Papa Gino's, Dunkin Donuts, CVS, and Boston Market. There is a playground and skate park next to the fields, but there will be no supervision provided for the playground or skate park.

Find your best route to Rt 95/128 in MA. You will be traveling to the area that is north of the Mass Pike and south of Rt 3 and Rt 495. From Rt 95/128, take exit 31B, Bedford/Rts 4 & 225. Continue towards Great Road, Bedford, and proceed approximately 2.8 miles, passing through 6 traffic lights, and take a left on Mudge Way. You are approaching Mudge Way when you pass the Bedford Common (on your left) and head up the hill. Mudge Way is not well marked, so look for a large white wooden sign on the left listing Town Hall, Police, Town Center, etc, on the corner of Mudge and Great Road. If you reach the split for Rts 64 and 4, you have gone a block too far. A short distance down Mudge Way, you will see the fields on your left. Parking is immediately available adjacent to the fields.

There is ample parking near the fields, near the library, and near the high school. Additional parking is available on the other side of Town Hall.

Hmm... my suggestion is go pick up the graphic novel and read it before you watch the movie. Cause there is no way they are going to fit ALL of that awesome into less then two hours.

    Dead Can Dance

Into the Labyrinth is the album to be precise (the only one I have, anyways).

The artist/group is Dead Can Dance.

Many here I think will appreciate this music if you've never heard it. I have no idea how to, or if I can, add a sound bite/song to journals and any site that would allow you do download them, I'm not allowed access to while at work. Needless to say, I know there are sites to sample some of the songs for free.

It's something of a medieval/renaissance ethnic tribal fusion.  The tone is slow and rather haunting. Highly instrumental; violins, violas, chimes, drums, etc., even a hurdy gurdy {sometimes}.

Brenden Perry's voice reminds me of a mellow David Bowie dropped back into his Labyrinth of foreign fairy tale.

Lisa Gerrards voice moves in distinct cultural waves;  more instrumental than vocal at times and always beautiful.

    Resurrecting the Champ
If you haven't seen Resurrecting the Champ, I highly recommend it.  It starts off with the following line:

"A writer, like a boxer, must stand alone."

I don't know if this film had been nominated for any Oscars, but it should have been.  It's been a long time since people have made a movie about truth, trust, and faith.

If we trust in someone, and believe in them, does that make what they have to say true?
If we share what they told us with other people, and if that information turns out to be untrue, are we liars as much as our source of information?

This is what the movie brings up.

I've been engaged in both of these battles lately, so it's been a timely movie for me.

    Making DXP plans
I am currently sitting at work and chafing at the bit, envying those of our particular brand of crazy that managed to get off today. My fault - I didn't think until two weeks ago "Hey, maybe I should request Friday off", only to discover six members of my team had already put requests in for this weekend. They are all Batman geeks, so it's no surprise that every five seconds I'm muttering DAMN YOU DARK KNIGHT!

Anyway. I need to find some LJ teams for the weekend. Anyone got stuff in the work that has room for a player to join?

    Combo post.

So tons to do today and J is at work. This means lots of trips up and down the stairs to pack the car since we did not want the mead, wine and beer in the trunk of his car all day. I still wonder what we are forgetting. But as I said to my sister last night it will be the middle of the day in our hometown. If we've forgotten something we will send someone out to go get it.

As a reminder to those of you that can make it please bring a mug of your own so I can return some of the keg cups and not use more plastic. And bring something to sit on. There will actually be plenty of benches and some folding chairs but you might be more comfortable on something you bring yourself.

    And we're off!

Gee and the way people talk you would be thinking World of Warcraft didn't need to start copying other games to remain fresh

    http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/wrath/features/gameplay/achievements.xml

hile Wrath of the Lich King will improve many of World of Warcraft's existing features, it will also introduce plenty of brand-new ones to keep the game fresh and interesting. One of these new features is sure to suit a wide range of play styles: achievements. These self-contained goals will offer new challenges, satisfy goal-oriented players, allow others to see your accomplishments in World of Warcraft -- and are just plain fun.

Sorry, but does this sound like Badges, Accolades and Veterans Rewards to me? I am sure the community will be energized by suddenly introducing this stuff.

    -shakes head-

    Travel Fund auction tomorrow
    Greetings, all.

If you are donating to the East Kingdom Travel Fund auction at War Camp in Eisental, I plan to be at the Royal Pavilion around 10 a.m.

You may drop items off then or at the stage area beginning at 3:30 p.m.

The auction will be at 4 p.m. at the stage and will include books, a personally decorated marshal's staff, two commissions from a bard, a commission for illumination, a basket of yarn-y goodness, jewelry and other spiffy items.

Thank you for your continuing support.

    Guardian?
Anyone plan to be running on Guardian Blue in the high 30s this weekend? My goal is to get Foudre Bleue to 40 from 37 and I could certainly get there faster on a team. I plan to be on tonight and Sunday afternoon (crosses fingers).
